Best Vacation Keepsake: Flytographer

We all travel to experience new places and make memories with those we love. But how often do we get to come home with an amazing keepsake to remind us of our incredible travels?  Sure, a t-shirt or a Christmas ornament is a nice souvenir but does it really do the job of reminding you of your travels?

How great would it be to take home some amazing photos of you & your family on vacation as your keepsake? Thanks to Flytographer, you can.

Who is Flytographer?

I like to take pictures while I am on vacation.  And I am known to come home with a few thousand shots.  The unfortunate thing about my photos?  Maybe a handful have the entire family in them.  Those that do are not always the best as you have asked a random stranger to take the photo for you.  Let’s face it, they don’t care to line everyone up correctly or make sure that your 6 year old is actually looking at the camera.

That’s where Flytographer comes to the rescue.  Flytographer has professional photographers in over 150 locations across the world. You can book a photographer before you leave on vacation.

How does it Work?

Booking was simple.  We booked a flytographer before we headed out on our #Austin2Boston Road Trip this summer. There were photographers available in many of the cities we were going to visit but we decided that New York City would be the most iconic spot to capture our trip. There were multiple photographers available for NYC, so I looked though their portfolios to see which one might capture my kids the best.  It was also a great idea to look through all the New York City photo shoots to get an idea of where I wanted to take pictures and Central Park immediately stood out to me.

Once I made the reservation online, my Shoot Concierge contacted me to confirm my shoot route, ideal times and photographer availability.  I was also able to be detailed in what type of photo shoot I wanted.  I was determined to have this be a very casual shoot to reflect our casual road trip.  I wanted fun and relaxed.  And the concierge was able to relay all that information to my photographer.

How did the Shoot go?

Funny enough, the day of our shoot was a long day.  We had been in NYC for 2 full days already,  and we had one last day to pack everything in.  We were up early to get to the top of the Empire State Building followed by a cruise out to the Statue of Liberty.  By the time we arrived in Central Park, we had already had a full day.  We were a bit worn out, and looked the part.

We didn’t meet Samantha, our photographer, until 5:30 pm as we wanted early evening shots with the sun going down.  We were hot and a bit tired but I was determined to have these keepsakes.  Lucky for us, there is so much going on in Central Park, we were really excited to be there, and soon forgot the long day we had had.

I think my favorite thing about our photo shoot with Samantha was how relaxed she was with us.  She gave us a bit of guidance here and there, but she basically wanted to follow us around while we discovered Central Park.  We played in bubbles, walked down this gorgeous, tree-lined boulevard, ate popsicles and relaxed on the Great Lawn.  You almost didn’t realize that she was there taking photos of us, it was that innocuous.

With us being hot and tired, I didn’t expect our photos to turn out as amazing as they did.  When I received my proofs online a few days later, it took my breath away.  Never has someone captured us in such a natural state of play before.  And in such a memorable location.  I was very appreciative at how relaxed Samantha made us feel during the photo shoot, but even more appreciative when I saw her work.  I am so in love with these amazing photos.

To me, Flytographer is an inexpensive way to capture your memories of an amazing vacation.  I will never be able to look at these photos and not have a flood of memories of our 5 week road trip.  I can’t buy any souvenir that can do the same.  If you are going to put all the work into planning a vacation, why not preserve the memories you make in a special way?

This is awesome! Beautiful pictures of your family and you are in them all! That’s the trouble I have: tons of vacation photos and no mom in any of them. Thanks for sharing!

I have booked photographers before when going on vacation because it is rare for us to go and great to have a professional capture the memories. I had not heard of this service. Thanks for sharing the information!

That is absolutely the coolest thing ever! Why didn’t someone think of that earlier in life!? Your pictures turned out great and I am seriously loving the whole concept of this! I am going to have to remember this for our future trips!

That is such a cool idea. I have a ton of pictures on vacations, but you’re right, we are never all in them. I really want to do this on our next vacation. We are severely lacking in family pictures.
