Christmas Family Night ~ Round Rock, TX

November 19, 2012 by Rebecca Darling

Spread the love
Christmas in Round Rock

Looking for a fun, family event to start the Holiday Season off right?  The City of Round Rock lights up downtown street lights and the water tower, illuminating the way for Santa Claus to come down from the North Pole for a very special “early” visit.
The Round Rock Christmas Family Night is Friday, December 7, 2012 beginning at 6:30 pm right on Main Street in downtown Round Rock.  Mayor Alan McGraw lights up Santa’s path, and Santa makes his way down the street on a horse-drawn sleigh.  The first year we saw it, all the children were thrilled to se Santa arrive in such a fun way.  The ohhs & ahhs were priceless.
The street is decorated in little wooden houses, each one has free games and activities for children like face painting and cookie decorating.  There is live music, balloon animals, carnival games, candle making, carriage rides, special entertainment, Frosty the Snowman, and of course Santa!!
Children will have an opportunity to visit with Santa, and parents are welcome to bring their own cameras as well to take pictures.  There will be a photographer on hand for pictures to purchase as well.
Free performances are scheduled all night, as well as free popcorn, hot dogs, hot chocolate, and more.
The Round Rock Public Library will host a puppet show at 7:00 pm, 7:45 pm, and 8:30 pm. They will also have Christmas ornament crafts, letters to Santa, and a craft sale.
Free parking is available in the City Hall Parking Garage, at the library, and along the side streets.
This is a wonderful night put together by the City of Round Rock and many community groups & organizations that donate their services to offer this fun & free event to the community.  To them we say a big THANK YOU!!
The Christmas Family Night is tons of fun and very exciting for the kids.  It gets a bit crowded, so please bring patience – the kids are thrilled to be celebrating the season so enjoy it with them!
And when you are done there, stop by the Round Rock Food Trailer Park for a fun & unique snack before heading on out to Old Settler’s Park for the Rock’n Lights!  There’s a whole evening of fun planned for you up in Round Rock.
